He's spent the last three years at Alabama as director of player development, but the former Alabama player has a coaching background, too.
Pruitt spent 10 years as a coach in high school and college.
In 1997, he was a student coach at Alabama under head coach Mike DuBose and defensive backs coach Curley Hallman.
Pruitt joined his father's staff at Plainview High School in 1998, spent the 1999 season as the secondary coach at West Alabama, where he earned his bachelor's degree, and returned to Plainview High in 2000.
He followed his father to Fort Payne High School from 2001-03, then gained a measure of fame at Hoover High School from 2004-06.
Under head coach Rush Propst, Pruitt coached the defensive backs for three years and coordinated the defense the last two seasons. The Bucs won the Class 6A state title in two of Pruitt's three years there.
